MY ENGINEERING PROCESS
As a mechanical engineer, this is the process I have developed to solve the issues that come up in my workplace as well as my daily life.

This process is heavily based on the Scientific Method. I've found this design approach to be very useful to me because of how it is very procedural in its nature, which gives structure and basis to my sometimes seemingly wild nature of approaching a problem.

When using this design method, I find a good rule of thumb is to spend 30% of my time working up to the developing prototype stage and then the other 70% on testing, redesign, and documentation. This time split keeps me from getting too fixated on a specific design without having adequate testing to verify its validity.

While I'm sure many engineers follow a process, not many take the time to think about why the process they use benefits them. I hope that someone, somewhere, can use this process and think about how they can implement it or something similar into their future designs and become a better engineer because of it.
